Open-Source Intelligence (OSINT) Mathematical Formulation1. Composite Firepower & Military Power Index (0–100 Scale)
Our ranking utilizes a standardized quantitative index evaluating over 60 multi-domain geopolitical, technological, and logistical factors. Scored transparently from 0.0 to 100.0, a higher score represents greater combined conventional firepower, active combat readiness, force projection, and strategic endurance.
2. Multi-Domain Combat Arms Weighting
Raw numbers alone do not determine supremacy. Land forces are normalized across main battle tanks (MBTs), armored fighting vehicles (AFVs), and self-propelled artillery; air power emphasizes 4th and 5th-generation tactical fighters; naval fleets prioritize carrier strike groups and nuclear attack submarines (SSNs).
3. Logistical & Economic Modifiers
National defense longevity requires deep economic resilience. Our index factors sovereign GDP, annual defense spending, coastline length, shared land borders, labor force reserves, and natural resource reserves (crude oil, natural gas) to calculate sustained operational endurance.
4. Verified Primary Data Sources
All inventory metrics are synthesized from publicly available declassified defense data: Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) Military Expenditure Database, International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) The Military Balance, United Nations Register of Conventional Arms (UNROCA), and World Bank economic statistics.
